Ms Joy Richardson is a Researcher at the University of Southampton within the School of Engineering's Transportation Research Group. She specializes in Human Factors Engineering and has supported studies in driving simulators, on-road experiments, and focus groups.

Her research interests include Highly Automated Driving, Active Travel, Gender dynamics in research, and Human-Machine Interface (HMI). She is a member of the Close The Data Gap initiative, addressing gender disparities in transportation research, and promotes STEM careers for female and non-binary students through STEMroller events.
Current projects involve ComTET, Future Flight Deck, Hi:DAVe, CRITICAL, Solent FTZ, and STARS: Sociotechnical Approach to Road Safety, often in collaboration with institutions like the University of Portsmouth and Solent Transport.
