About
Joshua Singer is Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Biology at the University of Maryland. His research focuses on understanding how neural circuits in the mammalian retina process visual information, with particular emphasis on the rod bipolar cell pathway responsible for night vision. His laboratory combines electrophysiological recordings, anatomical analyses, and computational modeling to study synaptic transmission and neural processing.
Research interests include neural coding in retinal circuits, synaptic transmission mechanisms at ribbon synapses, and the integration of rod and cone pathways. His work has implications for understanding retinal diseases and developing therapeutic approaches.
