Rev. Dr. Joshua Samuel is an Assistant Professor of Theology and the Huron-Lawson Chair in Contextual Theology at Huron University. He has taught globally at institutions such as the United Theological College in Bangalore, India, and Union Theological Seminary in New York. His academic background includes a Ph.D. in Theology and Interreligious Engagement from Union Theological Seminary.
- Research Focus: Liberation Theology, Comparative Theology, Interreligious Dialogue, Postcolonial Studies
- Publications: Author of Untouchable Bodies, Resistance, and Liberation (Brill, 2020) and co-author of Church and Religious Diversity (CWM, 2020). Current projects include Rage, Resistance, and Reconciliation: A Postcolonial Theology of Prophetic Anger (Palgrave Macmillan) and Dalit Theology: A Global Introduction (Fortress Press).
As an ordained minister in the Church of South India (Anglican Communion) and a resident canon in the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island, Dr. Samuel bridges theological scholarship with community engagement. He is now Theologian in Residence at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, Ontario.
