Joshua Patras is an Associate Professor at UiT The Arctic University of Norway’s Regional Knowledge Center for Children and Youth, North (RKBU North). His research focuses on evaluating interventions, implementing evidence-based practices, prevention science, public health, and quantitative research methods. He holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of Oslo (2010) and has extensive professional experience in research roles across Norway and the US since 2002.
Key research interests include mental health interventions for children, refugee family resettlement, parenting programs for immigrant families, and school-based prevention strategies. He leads the Parenting Intervention for Refugees and Ethnic Minorities (PIRM) study and co-leads the ECHO study, both funded by the Kavli Foundation. His work emphasizes translational research to improve mental health services for vulnerable populations.
Recent publications explore refugee children’s experiences in Norway, the efficacy of parenting programs for immigrant families, and optimizing cognitive-behavioral therapy for child anxiety/depression. He supervises PhD students and actively contributes to UiT’s courses on quantitative methods in health research.
