Joshua Overbay is an Associate Professor in the School of Stage and Screen at Western Carolina University. An award-winning filmmaker, he teaches courses in film directing, screenwriting, cinematography, and film history.
His creative research focuses on:
- Independent feature film production
- Socially-conscious storytelling
- Cinematic narrative techniques
His feature films include 'As It Is in Heaven' (NY Times Critic's Pick), 'Hope Bridge' (national retail distribution), and 'Luke & Jo' (streaming on Amazon Prime). He won over 30 awards for short films and was a Student Academy Award National Finalist. He maintains an active creative practice with plans for new feature films every two years.
