Joshua Mullenite is an Assistant Professor and Program Director at the Falk School of Sustainability & Environment, Chatham University. His research focuses on political ecology, environmental justice, and governance systems influencing human-environment interactions. He holds a Ph.D. in Human Geography from Florida International University (2018), an M.A. in Global and Sociocultural Studies (2017), and a B.A. in Anthropology (2013), alongside an A.A. in Anthropology from Santa Fe College (2011).
His work examines how political, economic, and sociocultural systems shape environmental risks and injustices, with an emphasis on experimental governance models to empower marginalized communities. Recent research includes climate adaptation strategies in coastal cities, social movement activism, and the intersection of infrastructure and environmental equity. Mullenite’s interdisciplinary approach bridges geography, sociology, and environmental policy.
