Joshua Bynum is Professor of Trombone at the University of Georgia and trombone artist-faculty for the Sewanee Summer Music Festival. As frequent performer with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, he contributed to Grammy-nominated recordings including Jonathan Leshnoff's 'Zohar'. Bynum's solo CD 'Catalyst' received the UGA Creative Research Medal, exploring contemporary repertoire and extended techniques.
His pedagogical approach integrates orchestral performance practice with technical innovation. Bynum founded the Georgia Trombone Summit and directs the [MOD]ular Ensemble, specializing in new music commissions. As editor for the International Trombone Association Journal's Pedagogy Corner, he disseminates research on brass pedagogy.
