Josh Counselman is a Part-Time Lecturer in the Department of Political Science at the University of Pittsburgh's Dietrich School and teaches at Carnegie Mellon University. He is a consultant with ACA Group in Pittsburgh. He holds a B.A. in Political Science from Marietta College and a M.A./Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh (2021). His research explores international political economy, focusing on institutional rules shaping trade negotiations, economic voting dynamics, and domestic/international policy interactions.
Research interests include international trade, comparative political economy, and sovereign debt composition. He examines how political stability affects debt structures and how voters perceive economic conditions. Teaching emphasizes critical engagement with political theories through real-world case studies.
