About
Joseph Takahashi is Chair of Neuroscience at UT Southwestern Medical Center, holding the Loyd B. Sands Distinguished Chair. A pioneer in circadian genetics, he discovered the first mammalian circadian gene (Clock) and established conserved circadian mechanisms across species.
His research integrates molecular genetics, neuroscience, and systems biology to investigate sleep disorders, metabolic regulation, and aging. Takahashi co-founded Synchronicity Pharma developing circadian-based therapies. Elected to the National Academy of Sciences, he received the Gruber Neuroscience Prize for foundational circadian research.
