Dr. Joseph T. Spaniola serves as Professor, Brass, Director of Jazz Studies and Music Theory at the Dr. Grier Williams School of Music, University of West Florida (UWF). With 37 years of experience as a composer, arranger, conductor, and educator, he has created works performed globally by ensembles in Europe, Japan, South America, China, Taiwan, and Singapore.

His research focuses on music composition, brass arrangements, and jazz studies. Spaniola's works span band/orchestral compositions, chamber ensembles, solo instruments, and electronic tape. The 2025 album Brass Tacks 3 demonstrates his continued innovation in brass quintet arrangements.
