Joseph Quick

Joseph Quick is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, specializing in sociocultural anthropology with a focus on Kichwa communities in Ecuador and the United States, and Mapuche communities in Argentina and Chile.

His research examines indigenous experiences through long-term ethnographic work at Ecuador's Green Lake Quilotoa Community Tourism Center since 2012, analyzing how indigenous civil society institutions address rural poverty and out-migration. Current projects investigate Kichwa labor migration to Chicago following tourism's pandemic collapse and digitally mediated indigenous identity spaces created by youth across Latin America through a University of Manchester collaboration. He is co-creating a graphic ethnography using paintings to document migration experiences across generations.
