Joseph Mujere

Joseph Mujere is Lecturer in Modern History at the University of York, specializing in Southern African social and environmental history. His research examines migration, land politics, resource extraction, and visual history methodologies. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh (2012) and previously taught at the University of Zimbabwe and National University of Lesotho.

Research covers migration and belonging politics, artisanal mining economies, land reform impacts, and decolonial historical methods. His documentary film 'Waiting in a Platinum City' explores informal settlements near South African mines.

Publications analyze chromite mining cooperatives, oral history methodologies in neoliberal contexts, and violence-negotiation dynamics in Zimbabwean gold mining.
