Joseph M. Vukov is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Loyola University Chicago and Associate Director of the Hank Center for the Catholic Intellectual Heritage. He holds affiliate roles in Catholic Studies and Psychology and serves as Vice President of Philosophers in Jesuit Education. His research focuses on intersections of ethics, neuroscience, philosophy of mind, and science-religion dialogue. Vukov has authored three books, including Staying Human in an Era of Artificial Intelligence (2024) and Navigating Faith and Science (2022). He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in neuroethics, bioethics, and philosophy of mind, and co-leads an NEH-funded project on interdisciplinary education. Notable awards include the Sujack Master Teacher Award (2020) and Provost’s Teaching Award (2019). His lab collaborations, notably with Dr. Michael Burns, address emerging ethical challenges in AI, neuroscience, and transformative technologies.
