Joseph Johnson

Joseph Johnson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Law & Justice Studies at Rowan University's College of Humanities & Social Sciences. His research examines juvenile justice systems, criminal pathways, and community violence prevention, with particular focus on gang behavior in online spaces through social media analysis.

Research specialties include:

• Online gang activities through social media platforms
• Juvenile justice system decision-making
• Community-based violence prevention programs
• Racial and ethnic disparities in justice systems

Dr. Johnson co-founded Youth Opportunities Development, a non-profit focused on youth development and violence prevention. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Research Methods and Policing.
