Joseph Fees

Dr. Joseph Fees is an Associate Professor in the College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences at Delaware State University (DSU). He is affiliated with the university’s Spanish language programs. His research focuses on language pedagogy, DE&I initiatives, and the integration of technology/AI into learning environments. Dr. Fees holds a Ph.D. in Spanish from the University of Texas at Austin (2013), an M.A. in Spanish (2008), and a B.S. in Actuarial Science and Spanish from Lebanon Valley College (2004).

His expertise spans artificial intelligence, data analytics, grant writing, and team-building. He has contributed to peer-reviewed journals and publications addressing experiential learning in HBCUs, professional content-based language courses, and educational technology tools like Loom. Notable works include a 2023 publication on STEM lab internships at HBCUs and a 2021 article on community-based faculty trainings.

Dr. Fees has secured grant funding through the U.S. Department of Education’s Undergraduate International Studies program (2022), serving as Co-PI on a $198,914 grant. He teaches courses including Beginning Spanish I/II, Intermediate Spanish I, and Spanish Conversation. His work emphasizes bridging language proficiency with professional competencies in multicultural contexts.
