Joseph Enguehard is a Research Fellow at the University of Bologna and PhD Candidate in Economics at École normale supérieure de Lyon, affiliated with the Center for Economic Research on Governance, Inequality and Conflict. His research examines long-run economic development, state capacity, and institutional evolution through historical case studies.
Research interests encompass political economy of taxation, military-state interactions, demographic transitions, and historical living standards. Current projects investigate fiscal policy conflicts in early modern France and structural economic transformations in colonial South Asia.
Educational background includes a Master's in Economics from Paris School of Economics and a Philosophy degree from Panthéon-Sorbonne University. Research fellowships have supported visits to LMU Munich, University of Oxford, and University of Chicago.
