Joseph Cardinale

Joseph Cardinale is an Associate Clinical Professor of Therapeutic Radiology at Yale School of Medicine, specializing in radiation oncology with over 30 years of experience in treating urologic malignancies.

His clinical expertise includes:

• Prostate & Genitourinary Radiotherapy
• Head & Neck Radiotherapy
• Radiosurgical techniques
• Brachytherapy
• Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT)

Dr. Cardinale has developed a comprehensive prostate cancer program at Yale Medicine and conducts outreach and screening work for medically underserved populations in the local area. His research focuses on finding cancer treatments that avoid organ removal, particularly for prostate and bladder cancers, leveraging the explosion of new techniques in radiation oncology that enable effective treatment with minimal side effects.

He is board certified in Therapeutic Radiology by the American Board of Radiology since 1984.

Dr. Cardinale received his medical education from New York Medical College (MD, 1980) and completed his residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital (1984). His undergraduate degree is from Manhattan College (BS, 1976).
