Josep Maria Espinet Rius

Josep Maria Espinet Rius is a Lecturer at the Department of Business within the School of Economics at the University of Girona, where he has taught since 1991. He has also taught at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) from 2006 to 2011 and continues to teach at Escola Universitària Mediterrània (EUM) and Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC).

His research focuses on pricing strategies, cruise industry analysis, business intelligence, big data analytics, and financial sector dynamics. He has over 60 publications, with 14 indexed in JCR/Scopus, integrating his professional experience in finance with academic work. He has collaborated with CaixaGirona and CaixaBank, holding roles in Commercial Planning, Commercial Analysis, and Technical Secretariat.

He leads research in the Grup de Recerca en Economia, Indústria i Serveis (Research Group in Economics, Industry, and Services), blending practical insights from his 35-year financial career into academic frameworks.
