Jose Reyna is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology at the University of Portland. Previously, he spent eight years as an assistant professor at Pacific University’s School of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training, where he taught human anatomy labs, biomechanics, and clinical internships. His clinical focus includes outpatient orthopedics and neurological rehabilitation, with grants supporting evidence-based walking programs for arthritis management. He holds Orthopedic Certified Specialist (OCS)认证 and is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and Oregon Physical Therapy Association (OPTA), serving on OPTA’s Cultural and Minority Affairs committee.
Research Interests:
- Outpatient orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation strategies
- Role of TRP channels in arthritis pathogenesis
- Musculoskeletal interventions for geriatric populations
Grants & Awards: Developed an evidence-based walking program for arthritis (grant-funded), co-authored works on hip interventions and TRP channels in arthritis. Recognized as an OCS specialist in 2018.
Professional Activities: Active in OPTA’s diversity initiatives, clinical mentorship, and interprofessional education. Previously served as a clinical provider in faculty practice and guest lecturer for physician assistant programs.
