Dr. Jose David Badia Valiente is an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering (DIQ) of the University of Valencia (UV), where he leads the Materials Technology and Sustainability (MATS) research group since 2019. He holds M.Sc. degrees in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Materials, as well as an Erasmus Mundus in Materials and Sensor Systems for Environmental Technologies, and a PhD in Industrial Engineering and Production.
- Research focus: Polymer-based devices for energy, biomedicine, packaging, and environmental technologies
- Secondary focus: Valorization of polymer materials via mechanical, chemical, thermal, and biological methods
He has conducted 33.5 months of research stays at KTH (Sweden) and URV (Spain), participated in 32 research projects (including 8 national and 2 international), and co-authored over 60 JCR publications (85% Q1).

Leadership & Transfer Activities
Since 2022, he has headed the University of Valencia's Sustainable Waste Management Initiatives and, since 2024, directs the AIMPLAS-UV University Chair in collaboration with the globally recognized plastics institute AIMPLAS. He co-leads two Spanish Ministry projects and has participated in 26 industry contracts, leading 12 of them. His work extends to societal impact through 10 projects promoting public innovation procurement and gender equality in STEM.
