José Carlos Dias Rouco

José Carlos Dias Rouco is an Associate Professor of Human Resource Management at Lusófona University's School of Economic Sciences and Organizations. He serves as Director of the Department of Civil Aviation and Airports Management and Director of the Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Management. His institutional roles include membership in AED Cluster Portugal's Aeronautics, Space, and Defense Sectorial Commissions, and the Skills Working Group.

Education includes a PhD in Management from Lusíada University (2012), a Master's in Sports Training Management from Technical University of Lisbon's Faculty of Human Motricity, and graduation from the Portuguese Military Academy. Additional certifications span military training, leadership, and human resources.

Research focuses on leadership development in military, aviation, and emergency service contexts, organizational behavior during crises, and human resource strategies. Recent publications analyze leadership in VUCA environments, stress biomarker detection, and ethical decision-making frameworks. Work consistently integrates practical applications across defense, aviation, and education sectors.

Awards include the Scientific Prize for the FCT-funded Stressense project. Grant involvement features six completed Army-sponsored research projects on leadership simulation and combat training technologies, plus current FCT-funded biomarker research.

Teaching covers crisis management, strategic leadership, ethics, and organizational behavior. Developed specialized programs for military personnel, entrepreneurs, and aviation professionals. Directs academic programs and contributes to European military leadership initiatives through the International Military Leadership Academy.
