Jordi Ribot Igualada

Jordi Ribot Igualada serves as a Professor of Civil Law at the University of Girona, affiliated with the Department of Private Law and the Institute of European and Comparative Private Law. He actively participates in the European Private Law Research Group and contributes to Catalonia's legislative development through the Codification Commission.

His research centers on Civil Law with specialized focus on Family Law, Tort Law, and Civil Liability. He investigates critical intersections between civil legal frameworks and alternative systems like social protection mechanisms and non-liability-based bodily harm compensation structures, revealing how civil institutions interact with parallel legal instruments fulfilling equivalent societal functions.

Dr. Ribot authored the foundational text Alimentos entre parientes y subsidiariedad de la protección social (1999) and contributed to internationally recognized collective works including Essential Cases on Natural Causation (2007), Essential Cases on Damage (2011), and Essential Cases on Misconduct (2018). His legislative impact spans decades through the Observatory of Private Law of Catalonia (2003-2010) and current service on Catalonia's Codification Commission.
