Dr. Jordan Butcher is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Arkansas State University, affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts and Communication and the Department of Government, Law & Policy. She teaches courses in American Government, State Politics, Legislative Politics, and American Political Institutions.

Her research focuses on American political institutions, particularly state legislatures, legislative careerism, and legislative term limits. She employs a mix of quantitative and qualitative methods, including interviews in four state legislatures, and her work has been published in PS: Political Science and Politics and State Politics and Policy Quarterly.
Dr. Butcher is affiliated with the American Political Science Association (APSA) and its State Politics & Policy Section, as well as the Southern Political Science Association. She has presented her research at various academic conferences.
