JoonYup Park is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Hawaii and holds the HCRC Professorship in Affordable Housing. His research addresses housing affordability, residential segregation, and neighborhood opportunity access for low-income households. Methodologically, Park employs applied microeconomics to analyze residential equilibrium dynamics and welfare impacts in major U.S. cities.
He earned his PhD in Economics from Duke University in 2024 and a B.A. in Mathematical Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to his academic appointment, Park worked at the Zell/Lurie Real Estate Center at the Wharton School.
