Jonson Miller

Jonson Miller is Teaching Professor of History at Drexel University's Department of History. He researches US military history, science/engineering development, and radical right movements from the 19th-21st centuries.

Education:

• Ph.D. in Science and Technology in Society from Virginia Tech
• M.S. in Geology from University of Wisconsin
• B.S. in Geology from West Virginia University

Research Focus: Specializes in historical studies of American engineers, 19th-century Welsh coal miners in Pennsylvania, institutional history of Drexel University, and military conflicts including Civil War and Vietnam. Author of Engineering Manhood: Race and the Antebellum Virginia Military Institute (2020).

Teaching: Regularly instructs historical methods, US military history (HIST 230/231), Civil War (HIST 234), Vietnam War (HIST 338), American Insurrection (HIST 217), and Historical Jesus (HIST 155).
