Jong Rho

Dr. Jong Rho is the Section Chief of Child Neurology at Yale School of Medicine, with affiliations at Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital and Yale Medicine. He holds an MD from University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (1987) and a BA in Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry from Yale University (1977).

Research Interests: His work spans two decades in developmental neurosciences, focusing on:

• Mechanisms of anti-seizure medication
• Metabolism-based treatments (e.g., ketogenic diet) for neurological disorders
• Brain mitochondria function
• Human surgically-resected hypothalamic hamartomas
• Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Leadership & Clinical Programs: He oversees clinical care, research, education, and quality improvement in Yale’s Pediatric Neurology division, driving growth in epilepsy surgery, neurocritical care, movement disorders, neurogenetics, neuromuscular disorders, neuro-oncology, and neuroimmunology.
