Jonathan Wilson

Jonathan Wilson is an Associate Professor in Marketing and Business Research at the Norwich Business School (NBS), University of East Anglia. He specializes in marketing education, business research methodologies, and authentic learning strategies. He established the UK's first university-based marketing club in collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), fostering student-practitioner collaborations. Wilson holds a PhD in International Marketing and additional degrees in Business Studies, Marketing, Chinese Business, and Educational Research. He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

His research focuses on advancing teaching practices through innovative methods like cartoon-based learning and smartphone video projects. Key publications include the best-selling ‘Essentials of Business Research’ and ‘Understanding Research for Business Students’. He has contributed to over 25 years of teaching, including executive programs for multinational corporations such as Barclays and Bosch.

Wilson has received the UEA 2018 Sir Geoffrey and Lady Allen Prize for Teaching Excellence, recognizing his innovations in authentic learning. He serves as Course Director for the MSc Marketing program and chairs the Marketing Subject Group. His peer-reviewed work spans journals like the European Business Review and Asia Pacific Journal of Marketing & Logistics.

Professional activities include editorial roles at Sage Publications and Pearson, as well as membership in organizations like the Industrial Marketing & Purchasing Group (IMP). His broader contributions include book reviews for major academic publishers and service on ESRC review panels.
