Jonathan V Sweedler is the James R. Eiszner Family Endowed Chair in Chemistry and Professor at the University of Illinois, holding dual appointments in Neuroscience and Molecular & Integrative Physiology. As Director of the School of Chemical Sciences and affiliated with the Beckmann Institute, he leads interdisciplinary research in analytical chemistry, neurochemistry, and single-cell analysis.
His primary research focuses on developing advanced mass spectrometry technologies for probing neurochemical systems, including neuropeptide mapping, proteoform analysis, and spatial metabolomics. Key innovations include MALDI imaging techniques for single-cell resolution and high-throughput workflows for large-scale biochemical profiling.
