Jonathan R. Sorensen is an Associate Professor at Loyola University New Orleans in the Department of Criminology and Justice. He earned his Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University in 1990.
- Research focuses on capital punishment, prison violence, and institutional corrections
- Teaches courses on capital punishment, corrections, and criminological theory
- Expert witness/consultant in over 100 death penalty cases
His 2019 coauthored article on death row conditions received the Association of American Publishers PROSE Award in Psychology. His work has been cited by Justice Breyer in key Supreme Court cases (Ring v. Arizona, 2002; Glossip v. Gross, 2015).
