Professor Jonathan Shaw holds dual professorial appointments at Monash University (School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine) and La Trobe University (School of Life Sciences). He serves as Deputy Director of Clinical Science and Head of Clinical Diabetes and Epidemiology at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute, alongside his role as a Consultant Physician in diabetes services. His UK-trained expertise spans diabetes epidemiology, clinical research, and public health policy.
His research focuses on diabetes epidemiology, cardiovascular outcomes, mortality trends, and lifestyle impacts, with emphases on meta-analyses, systematic reviews, and population-based cohort studies. Recent publications highlight innovations in diabetes care, cardiovascular risk in type 2 diabetes, and global mortality patterns.
Professor Shaw's leadership includes:
