Jonathan Sciarcon

Jonathan Sciarcon is an Associate Professor and Chair of History at the University of Denver's College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. He holds cross-appointments in the Center for Judaic Studies and affiliation with Gender and Women's Studies. His research focuses on Jews in Ottoman and post-Ottoman Iraq, complementing his teaching on pre-modern/modern Middle Eastern history, U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East, and American cultural engagement with Israel.

• Education: BA (History/Political Science) from University of Delaware (2001), MA (History) and PhD (History) from UC Santa Barbara (2005/2010)
• Career: Joined DU faculty in 2010, promoted to Associate Professor in 2017

Research interests span historical and contemporary Middle Eastern dynamics, with emphasis on transnational Jewish communities and U.S.-Middle East relations. Active in interdisciplinary programs bridging history, Judaic studies, and gender studies.
