Jonathan Posner is the J. P. Gibbons Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry and Vice-Chair for Research in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Duke University. He holds additional appointments in Psychology and Neuroscience at Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. His expertise spans child mental health, neurodevelopmental disorders, and the neurobiological impacts of prenatal exposures. Dr. Posner earned his M.D. from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in 2001 and has held leadership roles in pediatric brain imaging research, including directing a laboratory at Columbia University.
Research Interests: Dr. Posner focuses on ADHD, depression, and the neurodevelopmental consequences of maternal mental health conditions, antidepressant use during pregnancy, and environmental toxins. His work integrates neuroimaging, clinical data, and longitudinal studies to understand brain-behavior relationships in children.
Grants & Awards: He leads multiple NIH-funded projects, including studies on circadian delay in ADHD, prenatal cannabis effects, and maternal obesity-microbiome interactions.
