About
Jonathan Mill is a Professor of Epigenomics at the University of Exeter Medical School, where he leads the Complex Disease Epigenomics Group. His research focuses on understanding how epigenetic mechanisms regulate gene expression in neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental disorders, including Alzheimer's disease, ALS, autism, and schizophrenia.
Education
- BA in Human Sciences, University of Oxford
- PhD in Psychiatric Genetics, Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London
Research Focus
Mill's group employs a multi-omics approach to study molecular variation in the brain, integrating epigenetics, genomics, and transcriptomics. His work bridges disciplines like bioinformatics, computational biology, and neuroscience to explore functional genome regulation across the life-course.
Scientific Leadership & Awards
- Director, UK Functional Genomics Initiative
- Neurodegeneration Theme Lead, NIHR Exeter Biomedical Research Centre
- Recipient of multiple international awards including Brain & Behavior Research Foundation Investigator Awards and the British Medical Association Margaret Temple Award
- ISI Web of Science Highly-Cited Researcher
He serves on grant advisory boards for Autistica and the Alzheimer's Society, and contributes to the Medical Research Council (MRC) Neuroscience and Mental Health Board.
