Jonathan M. Rubin

Jonathan M. Rubin, MD, is a Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin, with additional appointments as Affiliate Faculty at the Injury Research Center and Clinical Informaticist/Physician Champion in the Office of Clinical Informatics. He serves as Associate Director of Clinical Services and Physician Safety Quality Officer in the Emergency Department at Froedtert Hospital.

Dr. Rubin received his BA from Dartmouth College (1981-1985) and MD from Dartmouth Medical School (1985-1989). He completed his Emergency Medicine residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania (1989-1992) followed by an EMS Fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin (1992-1993).

His research focuses on Emergency Medical Services, clinical informatics, quality improvement, and injury prevention. Dr. Rubin has made significant contributions to understanding prehospital hypoglycemia management, EMS interventions for community safety, and medical services at large public venues. His work bridges clinical practice with systems improvement through informatics solutions.

Dr. Rubin's publications from 1993-1998 demonstrate consistent contributions to emergency medicine literature, with particular emphasis on practical applications in EMS systems. His most impactful work examines patient outcomes following refusal of transport after hypoglycemia treatment.

As an educator, Dr. Rubin has mentored medical students since 1999 and residents since 1994. He currently serves as pathway advisor for Master Clinician and Quality Improvement programs. Dr. Rubin maintains active involvement in community service including medical advisory roles for the American Red Cross, Milwaukee County Stadium, Milwaukee County Zoo, and disaster response planning.
