Jonathan Kuo

Jonathan Kuo is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, Eberly College of Science, Pennsylvania State University. His research focuses on Physical Organic, Inorganic, Catalysis, Bioinorganic, and Organometallic chemistry. He obtained his Ph.D. from Columbia University in 2017 and a B.S. from UCLA in 2012, followed by postdoctoral training at the University of Pennsylvania.

Key research interests include transition metal hydride reactivity, proton-coupled electron transfer, and the design of ligands for catalytic systems. His work bridges fundamental organometallic chemistry with practical applications in catalysis and bioinorganic systems.

Notable awards include the NIH Ruth L. Kirschstein NRSA Postdoctoral Fellowship (2018–2021), Arun Guthikonda Memorial Graduate Fellowship (2017), and NSF Graduate Research Fellowship (2013–2016). His research is supported by the Kuo Lab, which explores catalytic mechanisms and ligand design.
