Dr. Jonathan Hudson is an Associate Professor (Teaching) in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Calgary, Faculty of Science. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the same institution (2019), following an MSc (2011) and BSc (2009) in Computer Science with a minor in Pure Mathematics. His research focuses on improving machine learning and artificial intelligence through evolutionary exploratory testing, emphasizing risk assessment and management. Teaching interests include active learning, formative feedback integration, and scaffolding skills development in problem-solving contexts.
Dr. Hudson has received notable awards, including the NSERC Teaching Excellence Award (2020), and has secured grants for pedagogical initiatives such as the AEGIS Rescue Simulator (2025-2028) and Self-Disclosing Chatbots for fostering common humanity in introductory CS classes (2022-2024).
