About
Jonathan Howard DeLong is an Associate Research Scientist at the Yale School of Medicine within the Sansing Lab. His research focuses on immunological mechanisms in neurological disorders, particularly the role of inflammation and cholesterol in hemorrhagic stroke. He completed his PhD in Immunology at the University of Pennsylvania and a postdoctoral fellowship at Yale.
Education:
- BS in Biochemistry, University of Washington (2007)
- PhD in Immunology, University of Pennsylvania (2018)
- Postdoctoral Fellow, Yale University (2024)
Research Interests: Dr. DeLong studies macrophage responses to sterile inflammation, the immunomodulatory effects of cholesterol, and cytokine-driven immune regulation. His work bridges immunology and neuroscience, with a focus on translational applications for stroke and neuroinflammatory diseases.
Awards: Recipient of the AAI Young Investigator Award for Oral Presentation (2018) for research on T cell regulatory mechanisms.
Activities & Contributions:
- Presenter at International Stroke Conferences (2023-2024)
- Peer reviewer for Experimental Neurology and Neurotherapeutics
- Key collaborator with Lauren Sansing, MD, and Kevin C. O'Connor, PhD
Labs/Teams: Active member of the Sansing Lab, investigating inflammatory processes in neurological injury.
