Jonathan Henderson is a Professor of Music at the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine. He holds a Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology from Duke University. His work bridges artistic practice and academic research, focusing on how musical traditions are transformed through recording and international circulation, particularly in the Black Atlantic context (Brazil, Senegal, US South).

His artistic practice includes film/ theater sound design, street performances, and leadership in experimental ensembles like Cakalak Thunder. He maintains an active profile as a performer, producer, and educator, emphasizing interdisciplinary creativity and social engagement.
