Jonathan Hart

Jonathan Hart is a Lecturer (Pro Tem Instructor) in Classical Saxophone at the University of Oregon's School of Music and Dance, concurrently serving as an Artist Associate at Willamette University. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from the University of Oregon, a Master of Arts from the University of Iowa, and is completing a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Performance and Pedagogy at Iowa.

Hart specializes in saxophone performance and pedagogy, with focused interests in Jazz, Saxophone, and Classical Saxophone. He maintains an active performance career, adjudicates regional competitions, and conducts masterclasses.

His distinguished competition achievements include:

• First prize in the Golden Classical Music Awards (Carnegie Hall debut)
• Placements in the William Byrd Concerto, Grande Ronde Concerto, and University of Oregon Concerto/Aria competitions
• Selections for the Adolphe Sax International Competition (2019, 2023)

He balances academic work with full-time employment at an allergy clinic in Portland.
