Jonathan Greenacre is an Assistant Professor of Global Development Policy at Boston University’s Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies and an affiliated faculty member of the Boston University Institute for Global Sustainability (IGS). His research focuses on the intersection of institutions, economic development, and technology, with expertise in Fintech, Law and Technology, New Institutional Economics, and Regulatory Theory. He analyzes innovative financial systems in developing regions, such as mobile money in Kenya, tractor-sharing apps in Nigeria, and micro-solar energy in Rwanda.
Greenacre holds a PhD in Law from Oxford University, an MS in Law and Finance (Oxford), an LLB from the University of New South Wales, and a BA in History and Politics from the University of Sydney. Prior to academia, he practiced commercial law and advised international organizations like the UN, IMF, and World Bank on legal and regulatory issues.
