Jonathan Fine is Assistant Professor in Georgetown University's Department of Philosophy, specializing in ancient Greek and Roman philosophy with particular focus on ethics, aesthetics, and Platonic concepts of beauty. His research examines the intersection of ancient values with contemporary ethical frameworks.
His current projects include a book on Plato's concept of to kalon (beauty) and studies on ancient Greek perspectives on shame, honour, and admiration. He also explores medieval and early modern philosophy and the philosophy of liberal education.
Professor Fine received teaching excellence awards including the Presidential Citation for Meritorious Teaching and College of Arts Excellence in Teaching Award from University of Hawai'i at Mānoa.
