Jonathan Culp, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Politics, Department Chair, and Director of International Studies at the University of Dallas. He holds a PhD in Political Science from Boston College and a B.A. in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College, Annapolis. His research focuses on political theory, classical political thought (particularly Plato and Rousseau), modern political philosophy, and the intersection of ethics with governance structures.
Teaching interests include courses on Plato’s Republic, modernity/post-modernity, comparative politics, and African American political thought. His recent publications engage with classical philosophers like Plato and Strauss, as well as modern thinkers like Hume, addressing themes of justice, happiness, and societal organization.
Dr. Culp has held roles at the University of Dallas since 2008, advancing through Assistant Professor to his current position. He has also taught at Boston College. His scholarly contributions include peer-reviewed journal articles and encyclopedia entries on ancient and modern political thought.
