Jonathan Aldred

Jonathan Aldred is an Official Fellow and College Lecturer in Economics at Emmanuel College, Cambridge. He teaches Microeconomics, Mathematics, and History/Philosophy of Economics in the Economics Tripos, while also engaging with students through the Cambridge Society for Economic Pluralism. His research critically examines the ethical foundations of orthodox economic theories and their policy implications, particularly in environmental contexts.

His most recent book, Licence to be Bad, explores how economic theories have influenced societal values over the past half-century. The work has garnered praise from notable figures such as Ha-Joon Chang and Lord Robert Skidelsky, highlighting its critical perspective on modern economic orthodoxy.
