Jonah Erlebacher is a Professor at Johns Hopkins University's Whiting School of Engineering, holding a secondary appointment in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (2014-2020 as Chair). His research focuses on energy materials, computational modeling, and nanostructured metals. He pioneered methods for decarbonizing energy tech, including converting methane/CO₂ to solid carbon and producing hydrogen via scalable pathways. His work also explores corrosion-resistant coatings and advanced manufacturing techniques.
Education: BS in Physics & Art History (Yale, 1991), PhD in Applied Physics (Harvard, 1999). Awards include the NSF CAREER Award and JHU's Huggins Teaching Award. He co-led the 2019 International Materials Research Congress and served on the ACS Petroleum Research Fund Committee.
