About
Jon Storm-Mathisen is a researcher at the Medical Faculty of the University of Oslo, affiliated with the Aminosyretransportør laboratorium (Amino Acid Transporter Laboratory) and the SERTA: Healthy Brain Ageing Centre. His work focuses on neuroscience, particularly the role of lactate receptors, amino acid transporters, and mitochondrial function in brain energy metabolism, neurodegenerative diseases, and age-related conditions.
His recent research explores how lactate signaling via HCAR1 influences neurogenesis and angiogenesis, as well as the neuroprotective effects of exercise in metabolic stress and aging. He has contributed to understanding ketogenic diets in mitochondrial toxicity, ADHD models involving neurotransmitter receptors, and transporter dynamics in synaptic and retinal function.
Dr. Storm-Mathisen has published extensively in journals such as Neuron, Nature Communications, and Journal of Neuroscience Research. His collaborations span molecular neuroscience, metabolic disorders, and translational aging studies.
