Jon Crowcroft is the Marconi Professor of Communications Systems at the Computer Laboratory, University of Cambridge, and a Fellow of Wolfson College. He holds honorary professorial roles at University College London (UCL) and the Turing Institute. His academic journey includes a BA in Physics from Trinity College, Cambridge (1979), an MSc (1981), and a PhD (1993) in Computing from UCL.
His research spans networking, cybersecurity, data policy, and trustworthy digital infrastructure, with a focus on decentralized systems and federated learning. He has contributed to foundational work on Internet architecture, including seminal papers on network coding and privacy-enhancing technologies.
