Jon Brain

Jon Brain is a Sport and Exercise Psychologist (in training) and Professional Doctorate candidate at the University of Portsmouth. He serves as a researcher in the People and Well-Being research group under Thomas More University College, focusing on the Safeguarding Sport & Society research line since 2024. His work bridges traditional sports and esports psychology.

Jon's research specializes in translating sport psychology principles to esports, with additional work in cross-cultural applications of psychology in Trinidad and Tobago and supporting national esports teams. His recent publications explore practitioner experiences in esports consultancy, team dynamics, and global sports challenges.

He co-founded the applied consultancy Mastering the Mind, serving professional football clubs (KRC Genk, Coventry City FC), individual athletes (handball, sailing, gymnastics), and esports teams (Team Ireland Overwatch, Team Belgium Overwatch, Lionscreed).
