Joke de Jong

Joke de Jong serves as Group Leader of the Biodiversity and Policy research unit at Wageningen University & Research, where she directs three active LVVN-funded projects including BioAgora (2023-2027) focused on biodiversity policy frameworks.

Her research centers on operationalizing nature-inclusive agriculture through measurable policy instruments, with core expertise in biodiversity monitoring standards and bridging scientific frameworks with practical farming realities. Current projects address critical gaps in biodiversity assessment for land management and scalable implementation of ecological farming levels.

Dr. de Jong actively engages with agricultural stakeholders as evidenced by her June 2025 expert commentary in natuurinclusief on translating sustainability goals into actionable farm practices. She currently leads €1.2M+ in active research grants developing policy tools for biodiversity-integrated agriculture.

She heads the Biodiversity and Policy research group, which develops evidence-based frameworks connecting ecological conservation with agricultural policy implementation across European farming systems.
