Joke Fleer

Joke Fleer is Full Professor of Health Psychology at University Medical Center Groningen and Dean at University College Groningen & Honours College. Her research investigates psychological adaptation to chronic illness and stress management in educational contexts.

Research focuses on:

• Psychological interventions for chronic conditions
• Stress and coping mechanisms in patients and students
• Professional identity formation in medical education
• Mindfulness-based therapies

Current PhD projects examine:

• Fatigue management in inflammatory bowel disease
• Personalized behavior change interventions
• Preventive heart rehabilitation
• Wellbeing in university settings

Awards include Innovation Prize for Education & Training and Incentive Fund for Interdisciplinary Projects.
