Dr. John Williams is an Associate Professor in Health & PE and Teacher Education at the University of Canberra, affiliated with the Faculty of Education, Science, Technology and Mathematics. He specializes in HPE pedagogy, sociology, and physical skills acquisition, teaching both specialist and non-specialist education programs. He actively promotes the Australian Council for Health, Physical Education and Recreation (ACHPER) and served on the organizing committee for the 30th ACHPER International Conference (2017).
John holds a PhD from the University of Canberra (2016) focusing on figurational sociology and Indigenous students' experiences in physical education. His academic background includes an MSc in Sociology of Sport and Sports Management from the University of Leicester, postgraduate studies at the Scottish Centre for Physical Education (University of Edinburgh), and is currently completing a Master of Physical and Health Education.
His research interests center on decolonizing curricula, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in education, and racialization in sport.
